I have recently followed a discussion about the music of Calabria in the South of Italy. This has brought me to look for more sources of Calabrian music.
In the discussion a blog about the folk music of Italy has been mentioned. In the blog italianfolkmusic you can find a presentation of many albums with typical Italian folk music. The last update in this blog is from 2012. Previously audiofiles had been available as download from filesharing sites, but probably all those download sites are no more available today.
The first group from Calabria that I have found in this blog is Mattanza. Leader of the band is Mimmo Martinu. The band includes guitars, the chitarra battente – a typical for the South of Italy, tamburine, accordion, bagpipe and also mandolin or mandola.
Enjoy my playlist with music based on the folk music from Calabria played by Mattanza.

Mattanza is the word for the traditional fishing of tuna which takes place every year. You can find some videos which show pictures from the Mattanza from the 1950s.
